Challenge Donations Benefit Stanford Cancer Institute

Event Beneficiary: The Stanford Cancer Institute

Stanford Cancer InstituteThe Stanford Cancer Institute has gained world recognition for its advanced clinical care, scientific research and technological inventions. Drawing upon the expertise of more than 550 doctors, scientists, nurses and staff, it is the only center between San Francisco and Los Angeles to receive National Cancer Institute designation – an honor earned only by the nation’s top cancer centers.

Stanford Cancer InstituteIts location at Stanford University in the heart of Silicon Valley, an incubator for some of the country’s most successful medical and technology organizations, allows patients to benefit directly from collaborations with local partners. With over 250 clinical trials, hundreds of research projects, the most sophisticated technologies, and comprehensive supportive care, the Stanford Cancer Institute is at the forefront of today’s advances in cancer treatment, prevention, and early detection.

Your donations support the work of the physicians and scientists, who continue to make significant advances in the fight against cancer through progressive research and expert patient care.

Stanford has a rich history of research discovery that has led to novel technologies and treatments for cancer patients. The Cancer Discovery Fund is vital to continuing the mission of translating Stanford discoveries into personalized cancer identification, prevention and coordinated care that will impact cancer patients in the Bay Area and throughout the world.

The Cancer Discovery Fund is a powerful vehicle for applying donors’ generosity toward this legacy in cancer discovery to improve patient outcomes. Your donations help directly by allowing Stanford to:

·         Advance innovative research ideas

·         Accelerate early-stage drug development

·         Train future cancer researchers

·         Extend outstanding cancer research and care to communities in need

This is an exciting time for the Stanford Cancer Institute. Over the next several years, Stanford University will transform human health and well-being—in our immediate community and globally—through the Campaign for Stanford Medicine. Donations become part of this powerful campaign to advance medical research and teaching; to facilitate moving discoveries and innovations into patient care; and to ensure the new Stanford Hospital mirrors the excellence of Stanford’s research enterprise.

Canary Center at Stanford for Cancer Early Detection

Donations also benefit the Canary Center at Stanford for Cancer Early Detection. The Canary Center at Stanford is a world-class facility dedicated to cancer early detection research programs. The mission of the center is to foster research leading to the development of blood tests and molecular imaging approaches to detect and localize early cancers. The center is the first in the world to integrate research on both in vivo and in vitrodiagnostics to deliver these tests, by housing state-of-the-art core facilities and collaborative research programs in molecular imaging, proteomics, chemistry, and bioinformatics.
