Pros Riding in the Canary Challenge

Former US National Champion, 2x Olympian, and Stanford Med grad, Dr. Christine Thorburn

Christine Thorburn, a former US National Champion, 2x Olympian, and Stanford Medical graduate will ride in the Canary Challenge 2012. She raced for the Webcor Builder’s Women’s Professional Cycling team and won the women’s individual time trial at the U.S. Cycling Federation national championships. She is currently practicing rheumatology medicine in California.

Univest Grand Prix Champion, Ted Huang

Ted Huang was a dominant force in Bay Area racing since 1992 and has emerged as a rider for the biggest races by placing in the top 25 at every edition of the San Francisco Grand Prix. Huang then padded this reputation by winning the 2003 Univest Grand Prix a week later. Huang raced for the Webcor Builders Men’s cycling team and currently works at Webcor as a project manager for systems integration projects.

Six-time Canadian National Champion, Linda Jackson

Linda Jackson, a former professional bicycle road racer is a six-time Canadian national champion. She competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics and won a silver medal in the 1994 road race. Currently, Jackson serves as the Director Sportif of the Team TIBCO elite women’s cycling team.

Dutchtown Classic Champion, Central Coast Circuit Races Champion, Jennifer Reither

Jennifer Reither, a pro cyclist from Scotts Valley, CA joined the Vanderkitten team in 2009. Reither led the Vanderkitten-Focus to their 11th win of the season by taking out the final leg of the Tour de Grove MOPRO Series in Missouri this past May. Reither won her division in the 2012 Central Coast Cyclocross Series.

Fast and Furious Criterium Champion, Tour of New Zealand U23 Champion, Emily Collins

Emily Collins, from New Zealand, is also a pro cyclist on the Vanderkitten – Focus team. She counts winning the U23 jersey at the Tour of New Zealand as her best result so far, and in 2011, she finished fifth overall in her national tour. She won the Safeway Pleasanton Fast and Furious Criterion, a new event raced in California.

Junior winner of the 2010 Nevada City Classic, Silver medalist, Eamon Lucas

Eamon Lucas is among the top American U23 riders that trains out of USA Cycling’s home base in Izegem, Belgium. In 2011 he placed 1st in the Panoche Valley Road Race and placed 3rd in the USA National Time trial Championships.

US National Cycling Champion, John Novitsky

John has won three national level championships, and ten state level championships (both individual and team), a pair of top 10s at world championships, racing in masters/age group categories.

 

Over Two-Dozen Professional Race Victories, Liza Rachetto

Liza Rachetto raced as a Pro cyclist for Primal/MapMyRide Women’s Cycling Team. She has competed in the Hawaii Ironman World Championships and raced on an Italian Professional Cycling team. She is currently is a fitness coach, training athletes out of Palo Alto and Los Altos, California.

Director of Vanderkitten Women’s Team Athletics, Jonathan Coulter

Jonathan Coulter raced with the Australian Team Healthworks, the Italian Teams U.C. Bagnatica and Pragma Pubblicitta and the US Team Webcor Builders over a10 year period. He is currently the Director of Vanderkitten Women’s Team Athletics.
